By the Grace of Allah Majlis Ansarullah UK held a Twitter Space event on Sunday 19 February 2023 entitled World Crisis & The Pathway to Peace #StopWW3. This Twitter space was arranged as part of Tabligh Day activities held on that day.
The event commenced at 6pm with the recitation of The Holy Quran with English translation by Fareed Mahmood Mubashar sahib.
The verses of Holy Quran recited were from chapter 49 verses 10-11 and explained the Islamic concept of justice and how conflicts should be resolved and how the various parties to war should act in a conflict and be treated once the conflict has been resolved.
And if two parties of believers fight against each other, make peace between them; then if after that one of them transgresses against the other, fight the party that transgresses until it returns to the command of Allah. Then if it returns, make peace between them with equity, and act justly. Verily, Allah loves the just. Surely all believers are brothers. So make peace between brothers, and fear Allah that mercy may be shown to you.
The host of the event was Arif Ahmad sahib and the main panelist was Ataul Momim Zahid sahib.
Arif Ahmad sahib read a short extract from the World Crisis and The Pathway to Peace in which His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at, Fifth Successor to the Promised Messiah, may Allah the Almighty be his helper, stated, in a letter to President Obama, I believe that now, rather than focusing on the progress of the world, it is more important and indeed essential, that we urgently increase our efforts to save the world from destruction. There is an urgent need for mankind to recognise its One God, Who is our Creator, as this is the only guarantor for the survival of humanity; otherwise, the world will continue to rapidly head towards self-destruction.
Ataul Momin Zahid sahib further expanded upon this message and stated that Islam has a very clear and comprehensive teaching is respect to Justice and recognising our creator. Whenever a war or conflict is resolved the aggressors who surrender should not be humiliated or taken advantage of and should also be treated with respect and justice.
Whilst all religions promote peace and have come from the same source the message of Islam provides more detailed guidance and practical steps as to how to achieve peace.
Tabligh representatives from various Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association regions throughout the UK gave their thoughts and experiences from the day of campaigning which had just been held under the subject of #StopWW3.
This included distributing leaflets, displaying placards with words from His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad and holding bookstalls and discussions with the general public.
Social Media channels such as Twitter and WhatsApp as well as traditional media TV channels were being used to promote the message of peace.
It was clear from the feedback and discussions held with the public that everyone wanted peace in the world and for the wars to end. However it was also clear that the public had very little faith in their political leaders to resolve the various conflicts taking place around the world.
Ataul Momin Zahid sahib stated that all political leaders will say that they want peace – however their actions do not match their worlds. He urged them to listen to and heed the words of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad as this was the only way to avert World War 3. He also stated that prayers are essential if we want to achieve our objectives of promoting peace.
Arif Ahmad sahib stated that the efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders to promote peace are ongoing and other events, campaigns and meetings will be organised on a regular basis in the future.
He encouraged everyone to read The book World Crisis and The Pathway to Peace as the guidance contained in the book, which in some cases goes back to speeches made 15 years ago, is as relevant today as it was then.
The meeting concluded at 7.00pm.
To date over 300 people have listened to the Twitter Space event and the whole event can be listened to again at the following link
